Music without borders
Jersey Rhythms grew as a New Jersey-based Indian popular and film-music orchestra built around live singers and instrumentalists. From its earliest years, the band embraced a multilingual repertoire spanning Tamil, Hindi and Telugu music, with songs reaching from classics of the 1960s to contemporary favorites.
The JR archive describes a fully live, manual band that performed for fundraisers, public concerts, private celebrations, religious programs and corporate occasions — with a team prepared to travel for performances across the United States, Canada and India.
Built on music, sustained by friendship
What began as a shared passion for performing Indian film music became a long-running musical community. JR’s story is not only the shows on stage, but also the singers, musicians, sound crew, guest artists, organizers and audiences who have stayed connected through the years.
